Thank you for taking the time to look into joining Muir Group Housing as a non-executive member of our Group Board.

We are a dynamic and ambitious organisation that puts residents at the heart of everything we do, and looks to improve our residents quality of life by listening to them and investing in the quality of their homes, the services we offer and the neighbourhoods in which they live.

We are proud of our history and are a financially strong and well governed organisation, having the highest ratings from our Regulator. However, we are keen to grow and develop to meet the current and future needs and aspirations of our residents.

It’s an exciting and interesting time to join us as we re-fresh our Corporate Strategy to ensure we can respond positively to the challenges which face the sector and be well placed to take opportunities that help us achieve our Corporate Strategy and deliver for our residents.

We are looking to appoint a new board colleague who, in addition to bringing skills and enthusiasm to make a positive contribution to governance at Muir, will also bring experience and expertise in the area of strategic Organisational Development; People & HR.

This will be a key role as in addition to being a member of the Group Board, you will also be a member of our Group People & Governance Committee. We are proud to hold Investors in People Gold and are working toward Platinum and this committee is key to the achievement of this goal. This committee also plays a lead role in the delivery of our Governance Improvement Plan.

About Muir and our Governance

We own and manage more than 5,500 homes across the country, in over 30 local authority areas, and provide a diverse range of housing solutions and associated services to meet the needs of existing and potential customers.

We have offices in Chester, Burnley and Huntingdon and employ over 130 dedicated people. We have achieved the coveted Investors In People Gold Award. Our business includes a wholly owned maintenance subsidiary, Muir Property Solutions Ltd, based in Warrington.

Further information about Muir Group can be found on our website at www.muir.org.uk

Our Governance Framework describes the responsibilities of the board, board members and the executive management team in respect of the overall governance and strategic management of the organisation.

This includes Muir Group’s National Residents Group which was formed in 2018. It is designed to help residents have greater influence in how Muir operates, hold the organisation to account, to help provide governance and drive service improvement. They meet regularly throughout the year and work with the Muir Board to achieve positive outcomes.

The Group Board currently comprises ten members, and there is an expectation that all members will also join one of two committees, depending on skills and experience. Muir Property Solutions Limited is governed by a separate Board, membership of which overlaps with the Group Board.

If you think you have the skills, knowledge and importantly commitment to help us on the next phase of Muir’s journey, we would very much like to hear from you.

Debbie Griffiths
Muir Group Chair
